Dedicated Public Service
Barbara’s innate servant’s heart is the reason she has spent the central part of her career in public service, having served the citizens of Chicago for more than 23 years, working in numerous communities.
In her role as an independent psychological counselor, Barbara delivers professional counseling and treatment with the goal of maximizing personal functioning for individuals ranging from adolescents to older adults.
Proven Leadership
Barbara was motivated to help people, and that fueled Barbara's desire to get a second Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology, from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Barbara’s drive toward excellence in leadership motivated her to attend Argosy University where she received an EdD., Doctorate Degree in Instructional Leadership.
International Relations
Barbara has worked on countless volunteer projects, within the United States and abroad, working in Jamaica with children in foster care, tutoring, one on one, providing supplies to the children, and raising funds for their orphanage; coordinating community service and international projects for her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, including projects in Ghana, Johannesburg, and several villages and cities in Africa, Canada, and Bermuda.
Meet Barbara
Barbara’s work experience with the Chicago Police Department includes protecting life and property, preventing and suppressing crime, enforcing laws and ordinances, and training and educating other police officers, recruits, and others in the Academy as well as on the streets. Barbara has performed many diverse roles throughout her tenure with the Department, such as auditing and clerical in the inspection division as well as partnering with detectives in the Area Technology Center.
